Waco Fitness Weekend - Sept 10-11
Waco is fortunate to be the host for three unique competitions simultaneously happening over the Sept 10-11 weekend. On Sunday Morning spectators can watch the Waco City Crit race at McLane Stadium as early as 8am. Professional riders are expected to be in attendance. Some of those athletes will then hurry across the bridge to Indian Springs downtown and compete in the 3rd Annual Beast of the Brazos. This event replicates the IRONMAN swim portions (1.2M & 2.4M) to allow competitors to train before the race series visits in October. Each year this event has grown in popularity and festivities. During these events (8:30-1pm) you can also walk to the Convention Center to watch veterans compete in Strongman Heros and local athletes in the Community CrossFit WOD! Again, we’ll have something for everyone on Waco Fitness Weekend!
Executive Director's Message
This past August was a bittersweet month for us here at the GWSC. After over 2 years of service, Emily Miller moved with her husband back home to Kansas City. We’re fortunate to have Rachel Sarmiento join the team and take up where Emily left off.
We’ve been busy with putting the final edits on our new website, getting ready for our own Beast of the Brazos, working on the TEAM Waco Project, preparing for the IRONMAN, and assisting with the Waco Rowing Regatta (Nov 4-6) while also recruiting some new and exciting events for Waco.
As always, these events wouldn’t hold the magic that they have without incredible volunteers. If you’re looking to serve or support the GWSC and our events in any way, please let me know how. I’d love to sit down and grab some coffee and see how we can partner going forward. Thank you Waco for all you do!
