Join us for a fun, family-friendly run where every child is a finisher. Open to ages 0–17, this event is all about participation, confidence, and fun!
Every registered young athlete earns a finisher medal, an official race shirt, and the unforgettable experience of crossing the finish line on the iconic Waco Suspension Bridge. For the run only races, registration includes a bib for parents to join in and run alongside their child for extra support and excitement.

After selling out last year and seeing incredible demand, we’ve opened more spots for our Splash & Dash and run events—giving more kids the chance to cross that epic finish line on the iconic Waco Suspension Bridge.

Who can participate in the IRONKids event?
0-17 years old
What are the race distances?
- 0-2 yrs → Race Distance is 9 yards
- 1-3 yrs → Race Distance is 26.2 yards
- 3-12 yrs → Race Distance is 0.5 miles
- 5-17 yrs → Race Distance is 1 mile
- Splash and Dash (7-17 yrs) → 100 yd swim and run
What equipment is required?
There is no equipment required for this event. Please bring your own towels, swimsuit, and goggles if your child decides to participate in the Slash and Dash.
How is participant safety managed?
Safety is our top priority. The course is supervised by trained staff, volunteers, medical personnel, and event officials. Age-appropriate safety measures are in place throughout the event.
Can parents accompany their child on the course?
Yes! Parents are more than welcome to accompany their child.
When and where is registration and/or packet pick up?
Registration and packet pick-up will take place at Indian Springs Park, right next to the Suspension Bridge. You can also register using this link: https://www.ironman.com/races/im703-waco/ironkids.
What happens if there is bad weather?
This event is rain or shine. However, our staff will always monitor the weather conditions. Schedule changes, delays, modifications, or cancellations may occur if conditions are deemed unsafe.
Where can family members watch the race?
A great viewing spot to watch the race is on the Suspension Bridge or the finish line arch that says IRONMANKids.
Where is parking for this event?
We recommend to park in downtown since it is free and is walking distance from the registration booth and the finish line.
